Decision made in medical negligence case

It is very important for hospitals to not act negligently when it comes to providing patients with care. When a hospital provides an individual with negligent care, it can cause the individual to suffer great harm.

Recently, a decision was reached in a medical negligence case from Tennessee. The case involved a man who reportedly went to the emergency room of a Veterans Affairs hospital in Tennessee in July of 2006. According to the Commercial Appeal article which reported this story, the man is a Vietnam-era combat veteran.

The hospital was accused of having been negligent in its care of the man. Specifically, it was alleged that the hospital failed to properly examine and properly treat the man. It was further alleged that this alleged negligence caused the man to suffer a variety of harms.

The man brought a medical negligence lawsuit against the Veterans Affairs hospital in connection to these allegations. A nonjury trial was held in regards to this lawsuit and the judge in this case recently reached his decision. According to the Commercial Appeal article mentioned above, the judge ruled against the hospital and awarded the man a large monetary judgment.

As this medical negligence case illustrates, an individual can suffer a great deal of harm when a hospital acts negligently towards him or her. No patient should have to suffer harm because a hospital failed to act properly. Thus, one hopes that hospitals are held accountable when they act negligently when it comes to patient care.
